He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Thompson and Nellie Wilson Thompson; and his siblings, Robbie Lowe, Lottie Vaughn, Sue Ellison, Margie Daugherty, Edward Thompson, Jesse Thompson, Max Thompson and Pat Thompson.

He is survived by: his children, Ginger Cox (Stacey) of Paris, Glen Thompson (Betty) of Gulf Breeze, FL and Gary Thompson (Ruthye) of Athens, TN; his grandchildren, Bonnie Thompson, Jeremy Thompson, Andy Thompson, Hailey Thompson, Beck Cox and Brady Cox; his great grandchildren, Parker and Ella Thompson; and his former wife Joan Thompson of Paris.
