He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Messer; his daughter-in-law Jodi Green Messer; his mother Sarah Ellison; and his siblings, Helen Morgan, Robert Messer of Mitchelle Messer, J. L, Virgil Messer, Leonard Messer and Rothalee Messer.
He is survived by: his son Jerry; his daughter-in-law Jennifer Messer; and his grandchildren, Sydney Messer of Parrottsville, Tennessee, Haley Tollett (Ean) of Crossville, Tennessee and Sarah Messer of Meridian. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Jerry's Home (151 Forest Hills Dr, Parrottsville, TN 37843).
