She was predeceased by: her parents, Gracie Brawley and Author Brawley; her husband Edward Mays; her son Cameron Mays; and her siblings, While Brawley, E. T. Brawley, James Brawley, Mary Priest, Virginia Brawley, Daisy Webster, Ailene Brawley, Elizabeth "Libby" Sherrod and Lorene Spain.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Jayce Mays and Cheyanna Mays; her daughters, Darla Smart (Raymond), Sharron Reeves (Kenneth) and Marsha Johnson (Tony); and her siblings, Brown Brawley (Joyce), Author Junior Brawley (Libby) and Dorothy Dollar. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of extended family.
