He was predeceased by: his mother Opal Powell; his brother Charles Powell (Martha); and his nephew Robert Powell. He is survived by: his father Lloyd Powell; his wife Patricia Powell; his children, Travis Powell (Melinda) and LeAnn Roberts (DJ); his grandchildren, MacKenzie Powell, Spencer Powell and Brendan Roberts; his niece Robin Keith; his great-nephew Bronson Neatherly; and his cousin Ellen Torbett. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Appalachian Funeral Home (800 E Watauga Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Appalachian Funeral Home & Cremation Services (800 E Watauga Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601). A graveside service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Edgefield Methodist Church (745 N Pickens Bridge Rd, Piney Flats, TN 37686).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial gifts be made to Edgefield Methodist Church in Piney Flats.
