He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Buchanan and Hettie Murphy Buchanan; his siblings, Clifford of Ivan, Woodrow, Howard, Eddie Buchanan and Janice Butler; and his brother-in-law L. G. Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Shealy Buchanan; his children, Taffy Dugger (Kermit) of Mountain City, John Eddie Buchanan, Melonie of Johnson City, Wesley D. Buchanan and Jessie of Gray; his sister Bessie Thomas of Johnson City; his grandchildren, Beowulf Buchanan (Bo), Elizabeth Buchanan, Gaston Dugger, Samuel Buchanan and Caleb Jones; and his close friends, Brad Teague and Alfred Dugger. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Nat's Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Edgefield Methodist Church (745 N Pickens Bridge Rd, Piney Flats, TN 37686).
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to family to help with burial expenses.
