He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Harness and Etta Mae Harness (Gibson); his wife Lodena Gail Harness; his sons-in-law, Doug Manis and Christopher Byrd; his siblings, Jimmy Dean Harness, Marilyn Harness, Gussie Harness and Dora Esley; his granddaughter Morgan Palmer; and his great grandchild Grider Lawson.

He is survived by: his children, Holly Ann Manis, Brenda Lee Palmer (Allen), Rande Harness (Lisa), Regina Gail Shepherd (Kenneth), Stacy Lee Harness, Tracy Lynn Matlock (Stephen), Jacqueline Rea Byrd and Evelyne Crystal Byrd; his stepdaughter Kathy Hightower; his brothers, Floyd Harness and Devon Harness (Paulette); his grandmothers, Morgan, Sheila Faye Wright (J. D.), Alma Newport (Donald) and Jannie McMillian; and his cousin Virginia Harness. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
