She was predeceased by: her parents, G. W. Cushman and Margaret Cain Cushman; her husband Jim Atkins; her son Cushman Atkins; her son-in-law Wayne Shearon, Jr.; and her sister-in-law Kathy Forbes Cushman.
She is survived by: her children, John Atkins, Hugh Atkins (Laura), George Atkins (Kim) and Patrice Empson (Craig); her brother Tom Cushman; her grandchildren, Scott Atkins (Dawn), Trey Shearon (Joanna), Bryant Shearon (Anna), Jonas Atkins (Chelse), Thomas Atkins (Hannah), Sean Atkins, Patrick Atkins (Taylor), Jackson Atkins (Kati) and Alyssa Franks (Nathan); her niece Angela Cushman; her daughter-in-law Beresha Atkins (John); and her siblings-in-law, Arvel Atkins (Barbara) and Doris Cathey. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home (6316 Hwy 41 A, Pleasant View, TN 37146). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
