With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gravis Birdwell of Portland, Tennessee, who passed away on July 21, 2025 at the age of 72. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Birdwell and Arvell Birdwell (Tomlinson); his siblings, J. W. Birdwell, Christine Patton (Birdwell), Sherman Birdwell, William Henry Birdwell, Dean Birdwell and Peggy Caldwell (Birdwell); and his parents-in-law, Horace Johnson and Ruby Johnson (Wheeler).
He is survived by: his wife Rhonda Birdwell (Johnson); his daughter Melissa Dyer (Birdwell); his son-in-law Brent Dyer Sr.; his daughter Kristie Gosar (Birdwell); his son-in-law Dustin Gosar; his grandchildren, Brent "Nate" Dyer II, Russell Dyer, Aidan Gosar, Asher Gosar and Adeline "Addie" Gosar; and his siblings-in-law, Delane Johnson, Rosemary Johnson (McCormick) and Joe Patton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Wilkinson Wiseman Funeral Home (715 S Broadway, Portland, TN 37148). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home (715 S Broadway, Portland, TN 37148).
