David, born on November 8, 1942 in Lafollette, Tennessee, was part of many shared moments and relationships throughout life. He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Byrd and Bernice Byrd; and his siblings, Lamar Byrd, Aurelia Brown and Vivian Byrd.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Byrd; his sons, David "Garland" Byrd II (Jami) and Gregory Lamar Byrd (Wendy); his grandchildren, Lindsey Rose (Aaron), Macy Byrd, Matthew Byrd (Jordyn), Ashley Byrd, Whitney Baxter (Jason) and Loren Gaylor (Derek); and his great grandchildren, Jaycee Byrd, Clara Rose, Brooklyn Baxter, Reed and John Gaylor. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Powell Chapel (2000 Powell Drive, Powell, TN 37849). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel (2200 TN-131, Powell, TN 37849). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Woodlawn Cemetery (102 N 5th St, LaFollette, TN 37766).
