It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Garner of Powell, Tennessee, born in Seymour, Tennessee, who passed away on October 22, 2025, at the age of 43, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his grandmother Louise Garner; his aunt Barbara Robbins (Garner); and his parents-in-law, Claire Barnette and Randy Barnette. He is survived by: his friend Dustin York; his wife Leighann Garner; his children, Emma Shae Garner, Reagan Claire Garner and Spencer Cole Garner; his parents, James Garner and Polly Garner of Seymour; his grandmother Louray Tipton of Jones Cove; his sisters, Kandi Strong (Keith) of Maryville and Kristin Williams (Chris) of Jefferson City; his uncle Robert Garner (Patti); his cousin Andy Garner; his brother-in-law Josh Barnette (Delores); his nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn Messer, Lorali Williams, Sarah Barnette, Enoch Williams and Zachry Barnette (Sydney); his great-nephews, Mason and Brady Barnette; his close friends, Nick MacPherson, David "Cuz" Alford and John Higareda; his friend Robert Summers; Robin Smith (Matt) and Steve Marrow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made two future education expenses of Birt's children.
