He was predeceased by: his father Lester Gruber; his stepmother Jane Gruber; his stepsiblings, Deanna Mason and Hank Sundburg; and his nephews, Andrew Schatzinger and Gary Ramsey.
He is survived by: his mother Donna Gruber (Christman); his wife Kate Riefler; his stepfather Clyde Mason of Findlay, OH; his children, Amy Ochier (Rob) of Clyde, OH, Kelly Letendre (Marc) of Wasilla, AK, Thomas Bolton (Melanie) of Parachute, CO, Melody Cheney (Bill) of Cambridge, MN and Melissa Monroe (David) of Mobile, AL; his stepdaughter Christine Wilson of Ramer, TN.; his sisters, Kathy Spriggs (Mike) of Tiffin, OH, Karen Powers (Phillip Baumgartner) of Bloomville, OH and Carol Ginski (Richard) of Largo, FL; and his stepsiblings, Eric, Sue Sundburg, Jack, Wes and Tim Mason. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church (510 W Maple St, Clyde, OH 43410). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund at Clyde First UMC, American Cancer Society, a local veteran's charity, or the charity of the donors' choice.
