He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Smith and Josephine Smith; and his sister Willadean Smith. He is survived by: his wife Martha "Cookie" Moran Smith; his daughter Mindy Smith Newell (Jeff) of Evensville; his sister Becky Hall of Evensville; and his grandchildren, Brandon Newell, Ashton and Aidan Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to FORCE (Friends of Rhea County Elite) to help build the new Veterans Memorial Park.
