He is survived by: his wife Glenda Pierce of Ridgely, TN; his children, John Shumate (Angie) of Troy, TN, Terri Pamela Stephenson (Michael) of Martin, TN and Jamie Anna Tuscan (Ronnie) of Troy, TN; his stepdaughter Courtney Whitson of Tiptonville, TN; his sisters, Mary Esther Keeling, Janice Montgomery, Sylbie Joslin and Rochelle Pruett; his grandchildren, Luke Stephenson, Lily Tuscan, Hunter Shumate, Aubree Shumate, Georganna Tuscan and Jaxon Howard; his great grandchild Wrenlee Muse; and his stepgranddaughter Anna-Kathryn Preslar.
During his time at LCHS, he made many lasting contributions to the school and left a lasting impact on his students and colleagues.
