He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Bates and Lorene Bates; and his brother Everette "Danny" Bates. He is survived by: his wife Edwina Bates; his daughter Tosha Bates; his granddaughters, ZaKeira and ZaKyah; his sister Hester Brewer; his brother-in-law Hubert Myers; his mother-in-law Thula Myers (Jeffery Cummings); and his pets, Bella and Toast. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and good friends.
