He was predeceased by: his wife Evelene; his parents, Ivie "Ike" Phillip Burns and Lula Mai Ralston Burns; and his siblings, Ellen Love Burns, Charles Ivey Burns and Christine "Teenye" Bucy.
He is survived by: his children, Ivie, II (Stephanie) and Robbie; his grandchildren, Ivie, III and Ellie; and his sisters, Margaret Louise Adkerson, Jean Marie Johnson and Linda Elaine Williams.
