He was predeceased by: his parents, James Stanley Kerns and Peggy Joyce Bearden Kerns; and his brother James Stanley Kerns Jr.. He is survived by: his sister Peggy Darlene Brady; and his sibling's children, Michelle Mayton and Dean Brady. He is also survived by great nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
