James Nelson Point Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Nelson Point (Rogersville, Tennessee), who passed away on March 26, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Lenard H. Point and Patricia S. Point. He is survived by : his wife Nancy Wilson Point; his daughters, Alicia Mumpower (Jason), Beth Clingaman (Michael) and Riki Zimmerman (Steve); his grandchildren, Max Mumpower, Charlie Clingaman, Maddie Clingaman, Alexandra Zimmerman and J. D. Zimmerman (Jillian); his sister Maggi Ruth Boyer; his sister-in-law Melba E. Wilson; and his close friend Keetan.
He was a quarterback and wide receiver for the Detroit School of Cooking located at the corner of Drumstick and Dressing and still has four years eligibility remaining, along with the additional COVID year.
Jim continued to provide family and community entertainment by dressing up as Uncle Sam for the fourth of July parades, wearing outrageous holiday suits, and his 24-year contribution to the Annual Christmas Cantata.
