He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Hensley; his children, Sandy Sizemore and Danny Hensley; his parents, Logan Hensley and Anna Mae Hensley; and his siblings, Evelyn Rollins, Goldie Rollins, Patricia Hensley, June Hensley, Gaither Hensley, Don Hensley and Billy Hensley.

He is survived by: his sons, James R. Hensley of Chuckey, Bobby Hensley (Lisa) of Rogersville, Billy Hensley (Kimberly) of Rogersville and Tommy Hensley (Elizabeth) of Greeneville; his grandchildren, John Hensley, Josh Cutshaw, Jessica Hensley, Sam Hensley, Josh Murray, Emily Sizemore and Ian Sizemore; his great grandchildren, Isaiah Hensley and Cortlin Cutshaw; his brother Joe Hensley (Judy) of Rogersville; his siblings-in-law, Mildred Hensley of Port Clinton, OH and Danny Bruce Rose; and his son-in-law Mark Sizemore of King George, VA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
