The memory of Melba Jean Cunningham Sawyer of Rutherford, Tennessee, who passed away on November 6, 2025 at the age of 92, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. She was predeceased by: her parents, Haywood Thompson and Mary Thompson; her sister Peggy Ann Thompson; her former husband Harold Cunningham; her husband Lloyd Sawyer; and her daughter Cindy Jean Cunningham Harris.
She is survived by: her son Dennis Cunningham; and her grandchildren, Chad Cunningham, Tiffany Harris and Kasey Harris (Courtney). She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Karnes & Son Funeral Home - Rutherford (669 S Trenton St, Rutherford, TN 38369). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Sunday, November 9th 2025 at 3:15 PM at the Rutherford Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Rutherford Church of Christ or to The Gideons International in her memory.
