He was predeceased by: his parents, Eula Carpenter and Clare Carpenter; and his half-brothers, Harold Rutledge and Billy Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Betty Hooker; his children, Mike Carpenter (Jill) of Birmingham, AL and Brenda Collins (Allen) of Nashville, TN; his grandchildren, Reed Collins (Haley) of Nashville, TN, Kathleen Guntor (Brandon) of Atlanta, GA, Ross Collins (Marla) of Pewaukee, WI and Michael Carpenter (Kaylon); and his brother Jack Carpenter (Vera) of Arlington, TN.. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren.
The family requests donations be made to the Gideons International and/or Riverview Baptist Church.
