He was predeceased by: his parents, William Paul and Esther Welch Adams; and his siblings, William Paul Adams, Jr., Maye Smith and Anne Rushing.

He is survived by: his children, Whit Adams (Audrey) of Birmingham and Laura Hutchison (Charlie) of Savannah, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Kellie Hutchison, Avery Adams, Keegan Hutchison and Sara Adams; and his siblings, Thomas Adams (JoAnn) of Manteo and Carole Dixon (Vance) of Florence, Alabama..
