He was predeceased by: his parents, Bid Pickens and Etta Mae Mitchell Pickens; his wife Thelma Christine McCraw Pickens; and his brothers, J. C. Pickens, Hassel Pickens, Ross Pickens and Curtis Pickens.

He is survived by: his daughter Patricia Pickens Bromley of Henderson, Tennessee; his brother Melvin Pickens of Hammond, Indiana; and his granddaughter Gabrielle Molina of Connecticut.
