He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Phillips Bivens and V. T. Phillips, Sr.; and his sisters, Jo Ann Seaton and Linda DeBerry. He is survived by: his wife Carol Kirkpatrick; his daughter Melinda Phillips of Nashville, TN; and his sister Kathy Ruth Hinton (David) of Mt. Juliet, TN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
