He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Franklin and Katie Nations Franklin; his grandchildren, Ariana Gibson, Julian Gibson and Baby Stavely; his son Gerald Underwood; and his brother Billy Franklin.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Franklin (Gibson) of Finger, TN; his children, Larry Wayne Franklin Jr. (Crystal), Michael Gibson (Angie), Josh Gibson, Billy Gibson, Katie Main (Oscar), Teresa Thomas (Martin) and Jennifer Stride; his siblings, Patricia Swafford (Buck), Greta Weaver, Annette Watts, Robert Franklin (Brenda) and Harold Franklin (Velmer); and his grandchildren, Haley, Tyler, Lily, Brooklyn, Punk, Bubba, Lacy, Lana, Lauren, Dylan, Jaylee, Ollie, Little Gerald, Shane Cody, Darian, Little Teresa, Denise, Samantha and James Lee. He is also survived by four great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
