He is survived by: his wife Donna Layne Smith; his son Daniel Ray Smith; his granddaughter Veda Lynn Smith; his siblings, Clifford, Earnest, Mack Smith and Irene McAlpin; and his brother-in-law Eddie Layne. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
