She is survived by: her sister Judy Belk Wood; her friends, Bradley Daves, Robert Taylor, Evan Daves and Katherine Daves; and her cousins, Nancy Lewis Kendall, Tracye Bowlin Griffith and Amy Lewis Hulgan.

“I attended East Side Junior High with Jan and was saddened to hear this news. I remember Jan's love for Paul McCartney. She made a chain from gum wrappers as tall as he to send him and wrote a poem to go with it, "With every chew, I think of you. My teeth are blue, they love you, too." She was intelligent and a joy in our circle of friends and my thoughts and memories of her have always been pleasant to recall.”
