He was predeceased by: his parents, Commodore Whaley and Emma Whaley; his granddaughter Jessica Whaley; and his siblings, Osten, James, Robert Whaley, Juletty Branch and Geneva Lewelling.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Whaley (Branch); and his children, Fran Utz, Gail Daugherty (Ownby), Michael (Rhonda), Jody (Sharon) and Tony Whaley (Andrea).
