He was predeceased by: his parents, Mattie Lee Runions Bell and William Clinton Bell; his son-in-law Bill Belt; his grandson Anthony Lewis (Tony); and his grandfather Joe.
He is survived by: his significant other Joan K. Armstrong; his children, Karen Jo Bell, Joe Gary Bell Jr. and Bryon Matthew Bell; his children-in-law, Fiona MacLean and Herald Policarpio Dayrit; and his grandchildren, Jack Robertson Bell (Yuuki) and Maisy Armstrong Bell.
