He was predeceased by: his parents, Bonna Morris and Mallie Vera Garrett Hockaday; and his brothers, George, Emmett, Jim and William "Bill" Hockaday.
He is survived by: his wife June D. Williams Hockaday; his sons, John "JJ" Hockaday, Jr. (Laisha) of Shelbyville and Jeff R. Hockaday of Shelbyville; his grandchildren, Jessica Cook (Keith), Jordin Ray (Tyler), Cassidy Barnes (Nolan) and Kenzi Miller (Eli); his great grandchildren, Beckham, Sophi, Will and Vivi Kate; and his sisters, Rose Alonzo (Al) of Bloomingdale, IL, Faye Derryberry of Ramer, TN and Susie Huckabee (Johnny) of Eads, TN. He is also survived by many nieces, and nephews.
