He was predeceased by: his brother Jason Allen Bates. He is survived by: his parents, Harlon Bates of Smithville and Mary Carolyn Page Miller of Sparta; his son Charles O'Brian Bates (Samantha) of Olive Branch, MS; his grandson Kayden Bates; and his siblings, Carol Morse of Sparta and Jeffery Lee Bates of Smithville.
