He was predeceased by: his parents, Clydie Burnice and Mary Amy Sandlin Carter; and his sisters, Margie Carter and Frances Whitefield. He is survived by: his wife Joye Fay Carter of Smithville; his children, Jeff Carter (Lorianna) of Smithville, Stephen Carter (Lindi) of Smithville and Serita Bratcher (Anthony) of Morrison; his grandchildren, Jennifer Dunn (Brian), Jeffery Carter (Amanda), Jason Bratcher, Daniel Bratcher (Becky), Benjamin Bratcher (Deanna), Chance Carter, Jessamyn Nowlin (James), Perri Hahn (Brad) and Kaleb Anderson; and his niece Sharon Yocum (Ricky) of Sparta.
