He was predeceased by: his parents, J. E. Ponder and Geneva Cantrell Ponder; and his siblings, Garland, Cordell, Eugene, Bobby, Lucille, Helen and Mairene.
He is survived by: his wife Marie Byars Ponder; his sons, Johnny Jones (Sandy Lomas) and James Ponder; and his grandchildren, Michael Jones (Jennifer) and Lesley Jones (Patricia Tarczy).
