With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Janis Moorehead of Smithville, Tennessee, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Janis left this world on December 8, 2025 at the age of 88, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. In the vast expanse of eternity, Janis shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Janis farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
She is survived by: her daughter RoAnn Romines (Jay); her brother-in-law Jerry Lee Cantrell; and her sibling's children, Shannon Cantrell, Scott Cantrell and Stacey Cantrell.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the DeKalb Funeral Chapel (863 S Congress Blvd, Smithville, TN 37166). A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Whorton Springs Cemetery (2925 TN-56, Smithville, TN 37166).
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Catholic Charites Diocese of Nashville, or Friends of the National World War II Memorial, or the Methodist Church Capitol Fund.
