With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Shirley Elizabeth Caldwell of Smithville, Tennessee, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 18, 2025 at the age of 81. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Matthews and Annie Decker Matthews; her husband Joe Harold Caldwell; her children, Sharon Caldwell and Ricky Caldwell; and her brothers, George (Betty Sisk) and Don (Peggy Matthews).
She is survived by: her children, Rex Allen Caldwell (Melissa) of Springfield, Randall Lee Caldwell (Jerri) of Smithville, Rhonda Lynn Merriman (Glynn) of Smithville and Joanna Nicole Lewis (Kenneth) of Cookeville; her grandchildren, Sherry Gail Daniels (Joe) of Smithville, Sonya Michelle Cantrell of Smithville, Sabrina Elaine Parker (Billy) of Sparta, Megan Brooke Moore (Jacob) of Smithville, Makayla Marie Lewis of Cheraw, SC, Brooklynn Elizabeth Call of Cookeville, Kathleen Grace Michele Lewis of Cheraw, SC, Hudson James Caldwell of Springfield, Matthew Hunter Caldwell of Smithville, Cody Fisher Caldwell of Smithville, Mason Blake Merriman (Christina) of Smithville, Micah Brey (Delaney) of Murfreesboro, Alexander Jadon Call of Cookeville, William Kenneth Logan Lewis of Cheraw, SC and Ethan Zachary Call of Cookeville; her great grandchildren, Aleisha Gail, Justin Skinner, Joe Delmer Driver (Elizabeth), Jacob Lee Parker (Abi), Jordan Tyler Parker, Christopher Blake Mitchell, Terry Joe Mitchell, Aleaha Michelle Young (Jadyn), Carson Hollis Moore, Maverick Charles Merriman, Charlotte Hazel Moore, Miller Blake Merriman and Leighton Louise Merriman; her great great grandchildren, Elliot Chandler Bunch, Camden Richard Bunch, Ezekiel Monroe Skinner and Piper Ann Driver; and her sister Linda Culwell of Smithville.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Sunday, September 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Love-Cantrell Funeral Home (100 E Church St, Smithville, TN 37166). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In addition to flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gideon's Bible and Smithville First Free Will Baptist Church in Shirley's memory.
