It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Thelma Jean Gwyn of Smithville, Tennessee, who passed away on October 14, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh Winton and Walsie Mercer Winton; her husband Leonard Gwyn, Jr.; her sons, Larry Gwyn and Mark Gwyn; and her siblings, Beatrice Webb, Sadie Winton, Ernest Winton of Lular Winton, H. B, Fred Winton, Roberta Ramsey and Clara Mae Wilkerson.
She is survived by: her children, Cathy Officer (Steve) of Smithville, TN and James "Mickey" Gwyn (Marion) of Murfreesboro, TN; her grandchildren, LaShaun Davenport (Thad), Tara Gwyn, Tamara Gwyn, Bryan Officer, David Officer and Maritza League; her great grandchildren, Donovan Gwyn and Langston Davenport; her daughter-in-law Eva Gwyn; and her close friend Phillip Smith, Jr.. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the High's Chapel (101 College St, McMinnville, TN 37110). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
