He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry McGowen and Annie Lou Barrett McGowen; his wife Virginia Ann Carter McGowan; his son Mike McGowen; his grandson Michael McGowen; and his siblings, Johnny Frank McGowen and Roberta Watson.
He is survived by: his son Randall McGowen (Debra) of Rockvale, TN; his brother William Evon McGowen (Shirley) of Lebanon, TN; and his grandchildren, Natasha Floyd (Lamonte), Jamie Pollard (MacArthur), Belinda McGowen, Stephanie McGowen and April Wilson (Jacob). He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
