With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Raymond Gates of Smyrna, Tennessee, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 17, 2026 at the age of 93. He was predeceased by: his parents, William L. Gates and Maybell Roberts Gates; his son Gary Gates; and his siblings, Helen Mynatt, Betty Clayton, Blanche Crum and Johnny Gates.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Carter Gates; his children, Ricky Gates (Kristy), Mark Gates, Cindy Sasnett (Willard), Kathi Gates and Kim Gates; his grandchildren, Leah (Billy), Amber (Jason), Somer (Matt), Kaitlyn, Ann-Marie, Ashley (Shawn), Angela, Melissa, Kimberly, Rebecca, Josh and Jeremy (Teresa); and his sister Brenda Wrenn (Kenneth). He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
