He was predeceased by : his parents, Ora T. Cardwell and Velma McCarter Cardwell; his former life partner Margaret Annette Cardwell; his siblings, Lucy Lane, Opal Faye Crum, Charlotte Reisden, Doyle Cardwell and Ora Cardwell Jr.; and his granddaughter Jennifer Patterson Wininger.
He is survived by : his wife Rebecca Robertson Cardwell; his children, Donna Bullock (Larry "Frog"), William Cardwell, Sherry Patterson, Clayton "Sam" Cardwell (Tammy) and Angela DeAlmeida (Jonas); and his siblings, Joanne Keith, Alamae Corley (Sylvester), Charles Cardwell (Karen), Clayton Cardwell (Eileen), Bobbie Strand and Billie Viles. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
