He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Smartt Sr. and Sarah Smartt; his daughter Deadra Smartt (King); and his siblings, Paul Mosgrove, Oscar Mosgrove, Joe Smartt, Grady Smartt, Alma Musgrove (Mount) and Reba Smartt (Daniels).
He is survived by: his wife Emalene Smartt (Isham); his children, James Smartt (Juanita), Joel Smartt (Viki) and Ava Crawley (Smartt); his son-in-law Jim King; and his brothers, Leonard Smartt and Thomas Smartt Jr.. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews.
