Virgil Higdon Jr. Obituary

Virgil Franklin Higdon Jr. went home to heaven on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, just 15 days before his 62nd birthday. He is deeply missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Higdon; his mother, Marie Sneed Higdon; his grandparents, Jim and Elsie Sneed; his aunt Darlene; his brothers Ernest, Johnny, Frank, Jerry, Paul, and Bill Higdon; and his sisters Polly Davis and Louise Smith Yoder.

Junior is survived by his children Alicia, Devin and Victoria "Tori" Higdon; his grandchildren Cameron Higdon, Arianna and Aaliyah and Cole Forshee, Braxton and Kyler Higdon; his brothers, Brian and Christy Higdon; Gene and Floretta Higdon, Doyle and Billie Higdon; his sisters Dottie Petty, Peggy and Leon Bowers; along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

He is also survived by special friends Steve, Kim, Vernon, and Sharon. All who knew Junior knew his love was genuine and steady, often shown through his warm and heartfelt hugs.

Junior had a special heart and would do anything for anyone. He was known for his honesty, his integrity, and the way he carried himself with kindness and love throughout his life. He worked in the concrete industry for many years alongside his brother Brian, where he took pride in his work and the relationships he built.

The family extends a special thank you to Vernon Sneed, Robbie and Glenda Trent, Velma Hart, Agnes and Gene Riggs, and a heartfelt expression of gratitude to Dottie and Brian and Christy for the loving care they provided to Junior during his time of need. Appreciation is also extended to Robbie and Glenda for always being there whenever they were needed.

Junior will be remembered for his big heart, his giving spirit, and the love he shared so freely. He will be missed until we meet again.

A memorial service will be held at Soddy Church of God on Saturday, May 23rd at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Vernon Sneed and Bro. Homer Mills officiating.
