He was predeceased by: his mother Myrtle Mohler; his siblings, Elmer Wood (Eubie), Delmer Dunavant (Dewey), Mae Castell (Howard), Louise Tinta (Nick) and Marie Rabe (Dave); his father Chester P. Wheeler of St. Louis, MO; and his brothers, Jerry Wheeler (Barbara) and Neil Wheeler of Missouri.
He is survived by: his wife Patsye R. Lee; his daughters, Sylvia Edwards (Martin) of Somerville, Michelle Echlin (Chester) and Melissa Norwood (Ralph) of Oakland, TN; his grandchildren, Ronnie Thomas, Jr. of Oakland, Toni Burns O'Kane (Tim) of Cordova and Trish Carver of Arlington, TN; and his great grandchildren, Jacob Burns, Dain Carver, Joshua Burns, Aubrey Carver and Emilee Carver. He is also survived by step grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel (10670 US-64, Somerville, TN 38068). A funeral service was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at the Fayette County Memorial Park (10672 US-64, Somerville, TN 38068).
