He was predeceased by: his parents, James Wilbur Johnson and Hilda Karen Culver Johnson; his wife Cheryl Johnson; his son Robert Gene Johnson; and his pet Jeter.

He is survived by: his brother Mark Johnson (Tina) of Somerville; his stepsiblings, Robert Foster, Michael Foster, Johnny Foster, Debbie Voyles, Eva Cook, Kathy Riley and Jeanette Busby; his nephews, Josh Johnson (Olivia), Austin Johnson and Kylan Johnson; and his niece Amber Johnson.
