He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Caldwell Nelms and Mary Frances Briggs Nelms; and his sister Carolyn Best. He is survived by: his wife Diane Mullins Nelms; his stepchildren, Stephen Kyle (Audra) of Paducah, KY and Kimberly Melton (Brian) of Jackson, TN; his grandchildren, Christian, Ben Melton of Jackson, TN, Ella of Paducah, KY, Sophie Kyle of Paducah, KY, Leah of Paducah, KY and Allie Herndon of Paducah, KY; his great grandchild Easton Herndon; and his siblings, Bill Nelms of Maryville, TN and Jessie Brandon (Curtis) of Auburn, WA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
