He was predeceased by: his parents, Jere Baxter Jernigan and Mattie Pippin Jernigan; his wife Della Carolyn Lee Jernigan; his son Charles Patrick (Pat); and his sisters, Mary Morene Jernigan Allen (Cecil James (C. J.)) and Jerry Jernigan Kinnamon (Ralph Clifford (Sam)).
He is survived by: his daughter Janice Lee Jernigan Heikkenen; and his grandson Dr. Eric Michael Heikkenen (Emily Clelland Heikkenen).
