He was predeceased by: his father Lester Gates; and his brother Dewayne Gates. He is survived by: his wife Linda Britt Gates; his mother Martha Gates; his stepmother Kelly Gates; and his children, Michael Gates (Piper), Christopher Gates (Sally), Brittany Gates, Sarah Britt and Trent Britt. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren, four sisters, several nieces and nephews, and many other family members.
