He was predeceased by : his parents, Guy Roy and Myrtle Rector Sr. Roy; and his brothers, Guy Rector Jr. and Tommy Rector. He is survived by : his wife Patricia Smith Rector; his children, Ed Brady, David, Tiffany Houston, Johnnie and Donald Shoemake; his grandchildren, Ben, Evan Brady, Caleb, Connor Houston, Johnathan Shoemake and Kayla Holder; his sister Ann Rector Fine; and his pet Spot. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 10th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home, Inc. (1670 Market St, Dayton, TN 37321-1130). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 10th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
