He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Morgan and Marjorie Parker Dowlen of Virginia; his daughter Debbie Diane Nalley; and his stepdaughter Sandra Renee Buckner. He is survived by: his wife Judy Jones Dowlen; his children, Donna Dowlen Steward, Sandra Jean Tyler and James Leonard Dowlen, Jr. (Theresia); and his siblings, David Michael Dowlen (Mary), Freddy Ray Dowlen (Debbie), Jeffery Lee Dowlen (Mona), Todd Dowlen, Lucille Bannister and Renae McKiven. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.
