He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Irvin Shortridge and Neomah Inez Fannin Shortridge; his wife Alice Wilson Shortridge; and his siblings, Rebecca Jean Smith and Virgil Shortridge.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Shortridge of Anderson, Kristina Dopel of Springville, Jeff Shortridge of Indianapolis and Tom Shortridge of Muncie; his brother James "Jim" Shortridge of Springville; and his caregiver Lois Bates. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
