He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Denton Douglas and Reatha Opal McClain; and his wife Juanita Douglas. He is survived by: his daughters, Denise Abbott (Wayne), Cheryl Douglas, Sabrina Renee Abbott (Gary), Shannon Michelle Rohelier (John) and Brittany Douglas; his grandchildren, Kenneth "KJ" Strong (Lauren), James David Rohelier (Irina), Jacob Rohelier and Savannah Rohelier; his great grandchildren, Abel J. Strong, Lydia B. Rohelier and Layla D. Rohelier; and his close friend Shirley Pullum. He is also survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to be made to Saint Jude's Children Hospital in honor of James.
