He was predeceased by: his wife Deborah Yates Hicks; his parents, Herbert "Bud" Hicks and Kathleen Hicks; his brother Clarence; and his sister-in-law Libby Hicks.
He is survived by: his siblings, Herbert "Junior" Hicks (Wanda), Jimmie Hicks (Connie), Nancy Douglas (Kenny) and Judy Matoy; his brother-in-law Dennis Yates (Sherry); his cousin Bobby Underwood; and his friends, Jerry Estes of Allen Cansler, R. H, Lovin, Jerry Summey, Doak Woodruff, Roy Prince and Jim Farley. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 2nd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sweetwater Primitive Baptist Church (947 Old Hwy 68, Sweetwater, TN 37874). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, May 2nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
